MassMutual is a leading financial services organization committed to helping individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals. They are seeking a talented Data Science Software Engineer to develop systems and applications that support their Data Science and AI initiatives, collaborating closely with various technical teams.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including AI Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Product Managers, to define and implement strategies for data ingestion, processing, cloud infrastructure, and application development
- Act as a technical subject matter expert across multiple technologies, guiding architectural decisions to ensure scalability, security, and compliance with enterprise standards
- Provide technical leadership on medium to large initiatives, promoting best practices and high-quality delivery across projects
- Design and develop reusable software libraries and components that streamline development processes and improve organizational efficiency
- Lead complex problem-solving efforts to deliver resilient, scalable, and maintainable systems that meet business needs
- Partner with team members and stakeholders to analyze, break down, and plan complex application features and workflows
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as standups, sprint planning, and demonstrations to ensure alignment and progress tracking
- Implement infrastructure-as-code solutions to support platform scalability, reliability, and automation
- Monitor and remediate software vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with security protocols and SLAs
- Document infrastructure, workflows, operational procedures, and best practices to support transparency, auditability, and long-term sustainability
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years working with data and relevant computational frameworks
- Proven expertise in building complex software systems, including pipelines, services, backends, and frontends
- Proficiency in Python and backend API development
- At least 5 years of experience working with AWS cloud services such as EKS, EC2, and Lambda
- Solid understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
- Extensive experience writing complex SQL queries for relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Jenkins pipelines, and GitHub Actions
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
