GE Aerospace is an advanced engineering center focused on aerospace innovation. The Product Quality Engineer will oversee supplier quality activities, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and driving quality improvements across the supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and approving supplier First Article Inspection (FAI) results and driving supplier compliance to Source Substantiation Plans or design intent verification
- Coordinating supplier quality activities with other internal cross-functional teams including the Sourcing, Materials Management, Manufacturing, and Engineering functions while interfacing with suppliers to drive adherence to quality procedures, product drawings and specification requirements
- Driving quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation
- Performing supplier product audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed
- Providing supplier product release direction when part approval cycles are not complete while also being the internal quality focal for those parts
- Collaborating with Supplier Quality, Supplier Quality Operations and New Product Introduction / Management of Change (MOC) teams as required
- Providing onsite support at suppliers, as needed (approximately 15% travel)
- Collaboration with other Engineering, Quality, and Sourcing functions to ensure joint success
- Leveraging technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems
- Communicating with direct colleagues and the business on the status of First Article Inspection (FAI) and Significant Process Substantiation (SPS)
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with at least 7 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering
- Fluent ability to read, write and speak English to facilitate communication with international colleagues
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing, engineering, or quality
- Demonstrated machining, fabrications, rotating parts and/or compressor airfoils manufacturing knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and passion for quality
- Strong background in interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications
- Demonstrated history of problem solving, root cause and corrective action methodology, data analysis and quality experience. Training in Root Cause Analysis tools including 8D, 5-Whys, etc
