Data Engineer

Mercer Advisors is a leading independent fiduciary firm dedicated to enhancing the financial lives of families across the U.S. They are seeking a Data Engineer to expand and optimize their data architecture and improve data flow for cross-functional teams. The role involves creating data pipelines, automating processes, and maintaining data models to support the company's analytics needs.

Responsibilities:

• Creating and maintaining optimal data pipeline architecture
• Enterprise pipeline orchestration set up administration (AWS Glue, Airflow, Fivetran)
• Assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional & non-functional business requirements
• Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
• Building the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using relevant technologies
• Working with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
• Securing the data within our environment
• Working with our analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems
• Building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management
• Maintaining our data model
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Data Engineering is required
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases is required
• Experience working with SQL Server is required
• Experience working with Python for at least 3 years' is required
• Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets is required
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement is required
• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
• Knowledge of Salesforce data structure
• Knowledge of working in Azure
