The Structural Engineer will demonstrate professionalism and client focus while providing design recommendations and ensuring project quality for government operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide value to our clients by evaluating options based upon the client’s needs and desires, first cost, and life cycle cost
- Communicate your design recommendations to our clients, project team, construction contractors, and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email, and phone as necessary
- Work alone on projects, or work on a project team with other technical staff to design and detail the new structural systems that are needed
- Assure work is accurate and coordinated, and that the quality assurance measures have been followed
- Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements
- Maintain appropriate contact with our existing clients so that they think of our firm when services are needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures
- 5+ years of experience in the design of industrial, power generation, and facilities and structures
- working knowledge of Structural Analysis and Design Software (specifically RAM suite preferred)
- BIM strategies using Revit and Navisworks
- PE License (or on path to obtain)
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- Ability to travel to client locations as needed
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Knowledge of computer operations and software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
- Ability to lead the pursuit of projects for new and existing clients by meeting with them to discuss the projects, conducting presentations, and writing proposals
- Ability to provide technical assessments of potential project opportunities to aide in project go/no-go decisions
- Ability to lead and oversee the work of other engineers and designers as a Project Design Lead or a Project Manager to develop project deliverables
- Ability to perform structural analysis and design calculations following office structural design standards
- Ability to stay abreast of new design and analysis technologies and building materials through continuing education activities
- Building foundation design, including shallow and deep foundations
- Concrete pit and trench design
- Soil retention design, including those for temporary construction
- Slab on grade and elevated slab design
- Equipment lifting design and layout
- Fall protection design for general industry and construction
- Building design using steel, concrete, masonry, and wood
- Connection design
- Equipment support design and layout
- Mechanical process piping supports
- Develop specification documents
