Structural Engineer

The Structural Engineer will demonstrate professionalism and client focus while providing design recommendations and ensuring project quality for government operations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide value to our clients by evaluating options based upon the client’s needs and desires, first cost, and life cycle cost
• Communicate your design recommendations to our clients, project team, construction contractors, and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email, and phone as necessary
• Work alone on projects, or work on a project team with other technical staff to design and detail the new structural systems that are needed
• Assure work is accurate and coordinated, and that the quality assurance measures have been followed
• Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements
• Maintain appropriate contact with our existing clients so that they think of our firm when services are needed
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures
• 5+ years of experience in the design of industrial, power generation, and facilities and structures
• working knowledge of Structural Analysis and Design Software (specifically RAM suite preferred)
• BIM strategies using Revit and Navisworks
• PE License (or on path to obtain)
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
• Ability to travel to client locations as needed
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Knowledge of computer operations and software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
• Ability to lead the pursuit of projects for new and existing clients by meeting with them to discuss the projects, conducting presentations, and writing proposals
• Ability to provide technical assessments of potential project opportunities to aide in project go/no-go decisions
• Ability to lead and oversee the work of other engineers and designers as a Project Design Lead or a Project Manager to develop project deliverables
• Ability to perform structural analysis and design calculations following office structural design standards
• Ability to stay abreast of new design and analysis technologies and building materials through continuing education activities
• Building foundation design, including shallow and deep foundations
• Concrete pit and trench design
• Soil retention design, including those for temporary construction
• Slab on grade and elevated slab design
• Equipment lifting design and layout
• Fall protection design for general industry and construction
• Building design using steel, concrete, masonry, and wood
• Connection design
• Equipment support design and layout
• Mechanical process piping supports
• Develop specification documents
