The AWS Cloud Engineer will support federal customers by optimizing AWS environments, addressing operational challenges, and integrating innovative services while leveraging Infrastructure as Code practices.
Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts to ensure the seamless operation of our AWS environment. Provide initial assistance for issues spanning network connectivity and system performance. Employ proactive monitoring and optimization techniques
- Collaborate closely with teams to design and implement advanced network structures. Participate in establishing segregated environments emphasizing security and compliance
- Play a pivotal role in evaluating, testing, and successfully incorporating emerging AWS services. From meeting zero-trust architecture demands to orchestrating alterations in infrastructure, responsible for insights that will be instrumental in supporting mission-critical activities and boosting overall operational agility
- Engage harmoniously with cross-functional teams to produce comprehensive documentation, architecturally sound diagrams, and guidelines for best practices. Responsible for leveraging the skills to contribute to the establishment of standardized operational procedures, enabling the entire team to perform AWS tasks effectively
- Responsible for leveraging the experience in DevOps tools to streamline operations and enhance collaboration. Collaborate with development teams to integrate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, automating the provisioning and management of AWS resources
- Actively contribute to our initiatives for managing AWS costs. Develop and uphold intricate projections, dashboards, and alert systems. Participate in conducting thorough analyses of cost benefits, exploring the potential substitution of existing services with AWS managed solutions, and identifying optimization opportunities
Requirements:
- A minimum 5 years of hands-on involvement with AWS cloud services and solutions
- Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Ansible, or similar tools for automation and CI/CD
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing network architectures, adhering to industry best practices
- Proficiency in networking concepts, security best practices in AWS environments, and a history of troubleshooting AWS-related issues
- Familiarity with AWS IAM roles, policies, and identity integration
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving abilities, dedicated to continuous improvement
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to write clear and concise technical architecture documents
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent certifications preferred
