The Principal AI Engineer will drive the modernization of AI capabilities by designing and optimizing solutions that enhance business insights and operational efficiency while influencing senior leadership on AI strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in AI and Machine Learning to support and advance Prime’s strategic initiatives
- Lead cross‑functional teams to identify, evaluate, and prioritize AI solutions that drive measurable business impact
- Influence senior leadership on AI strategy, best practices, and opportunities for efficiency and data‑driven decision making
- Promote organizational awareness and understanding of AI capabilities, processes, and value
- Oversee the development of AI systems and provide direction to team members to ensure alignment across subsystems and development efforts
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience; High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- 7 years of extensive technical experience in variety of application development, software development, machine learning or analytics
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
- Exceptional communication skills, including written, technical, and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with demonstrated experience in business analysis and solution design
- Proven adaptability and success working in fast‑paced, rapidly evolving environments
- Proficiency in SQL, including designing and building denormalized data structures within SQL Server environments
- Leadership capabilities, including guiding work direction, mentoring team members, providing constructive feedback, and influencing outcomes across teams
- Understanding of product and process engineering within healthcare environments, including workflow optimization and operational impact
- Awareness of security implications across domains, ensuring solutions align with compliance, privacy, and organizational security requirements
- Master's degree in engineering or related field
- Experience working in environment with regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI, etc.)
- Previous experience working in a rapid iterative prototyping environment
- Previous experience in PBM / health care industry
