The Sr. Director of Software Engineering will provide strategic leadership and technical direction for the software engineering organization, overseeing modernization efforts and driving the adoption of scalable solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Build and Mature Engineering Culture: Develop a high-performing team that embraces continuous learning, innovation, domain expertise, quality, and accountability
- Partner Across Teams: Collaborate with leadership, product management, and stakeholders to define technical vision and ensure alignment with business objectives
- Lead Strategic Transformation: Drive modernization of platforms and processes, reducing onboarding complexity and infrastructure management while aligning with long-term technology roadmaps
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted partner by understanding business needs deeply and influencing progress through technical expertise
- Mentor and Grow Leaders: Coach engineering managers and technical staff, fostering leadership and technical depth
- Advance Technical Excellence: Oversee design, development, and deployment of scalable, high-quality software solutions. Enforce best practices in architecture, development, and quality
- Performance Management: Establish clear goals, metrics, and accountability for team performance and delivery
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- High technical acumen. Ability to influence technical strategy beyond immediate team scope
- Experience: 12+ years in software engineering, with at least 7+ years in leadership roles managing large, distributed teams
- Leadership: Ability to lead through change, build a product mindset, and foster a culture of innovation and accountability
- Proven track record of delivering complex, enterprise-scale software projects on time and within budget
- Technical Expertise: Python, Spark, API development, Data Warehousing concepts, ETL patterns, SQL
- Deep understanding of cloud services and DevOps practices
- Communication: Exceptional ability to engage stakeholders, influence decisions, and articulate complex technical concepts clearly
- Master's degree
- Healthcare Domain Knowledge: Experience with healthcare data, especially medical claims
- Strong background in software engineering, architecture, and system integration
