Electric Power Engineers (EPE) is focused on designing the grid of the future, and they are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer for Data Center. The role involves leading the design, implementation, and lifecycle support of critical electrical systems for hyperscale data centers, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Engineer medium‑ and low‑voltage power distribution, UPS and generator backup, and emergency power systems for high‑density loads
- Produce and review one‑line diagrams, schematics, Bills of Materials, and installation drawings
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations, including National Electric Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards
- Work closely with mechanical, civil, controls, and IT teams to define project requirements, design criteria, and budgets
- Provide technical leadership during design reviews, value‑engineering sessions, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and on‑site inspections
- Analyze electrical systems to identify and resolve issues, including load balancing, capacity planning, and power consumption optimization
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in data center technologies, and recommend new technologies to improve the reliability and efficiency of our data center infrastructure
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 10+ years of progressive experience in data‑center or other mission‑critical electrical design; active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- Deep knowledge of power‑distribution architecture, UPS/generator systems, grounding/bonding, and protective‑device coordination for ≥ 20 MW facilities
- Demonstrated success delivering data‑center projects from concept through commissioning, including field construction support
- Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations, including NEC and IEC standards
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
