Serco is a leader in naval engineering projects supporting the U.S. Navy and commercial customers. The role involves functioning as a Post Delivery Ship Engineer, mentoring junior engineers, and engaging in the design and evaluation of maritime systems.
Responsibilities:
- Support program execution through the technical review, development, and approval of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables
- Lead in developing electric plant load analysis (EPLA) for Flight I and Flight II SSC concepts
- Lead for developing propulsion plant arrangement and propulsion CONOPS for Flight II SSC DSE ship concepts
- Lead for developing electrical power one-line diagrams
- Responsible for developing electrical supporting equipment IS/WAS and arrangements
- Develop secondary impact assessment on ship engineering change proposals
- Develop electrical system hardware and software drawings, schematics, test procedures, and specifications, applying industry and regulatory body requirements appropriate and applicable to the ship design; such as ABS SVR, IEEE 45, NFPA, CFR46, and MIL Specifications
- Develop baseline requirements and architecture for New Construction ships based on acquisition and requirements documents
- Interface externally with vendors and customers to ensure the delivered system meet technical performance specifications
- Evaluates designs of shipboard machinery control and monitoring systems, interior communication systems, and integrates instrumentation and alarm functions for these systems
- Travel to support onboard ship checks and develop ship alt packages
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree with minimum 5 years of experience in a related field
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance post-employment
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in one of the following marine fields: electric propulsion systems; machinery control systems; power generation and distribution systems; or interior communications systems
- Demonstrate experience reviewing and/or authoring CDRLs and developing preliminary design products
- Ability to interpret contract language and apply requirements to technical deliverables
- Knowledge of MS Office 2010 (Excel, Word, Outlook), AutoCAD, and Navisworks/3D Modeling
- Have the ability to execute a ship checks at a shipyard or Naval Base and document as-built configuration
- Experience writing requirements and drafting Statement of Work (SOW) and Technical Instruction
- Knowledge of ABS SVR, IEEE 45, CFR46, NFPA, and MIL specifications
- Good written and oral communication skills
