The Process Safety Engineer provides technical services and guidance to support Process Safety improvement activities globally, primarily conducting assessments and evaluations for clients in various industries.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment by actively participating, taking responsibility, and following established procedures and policies
- Primarily responsible to provide a variety of process safety assessments, reviews, or evaluations for equipment, processes, or procedures at a client’s facility or remotely
- Performing process safety assessments and evaluations to OSHA and PSM standards
- Review and apply best practices and code requirements from a variety of standards and regulations (NFPA, Building & Fire Codes, OSHA, FM Global, etc.)
- Communication with clients and consulting team in a timely, effective, and continuous manner
- Follow-up on new opportunities and prepare quotations for prospective clients
- Perform on team projects and independently on projects or tasks
- Develop technical reports as required
- Perform technical reviews for peers which could include marketing papers, presentations, reports, etc
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
Requirements:
- BS (or Higher) in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Fire Protection) or other safety related field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the field of process safety
- Strong knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulations (NFPA, Building & Fire Codes, OSHA, etc.)
- Strong personal communications and leadership skills
- Must be able to work well under pressure within a team environment
- Must deliver reports and analysis documents within time-driven deadlines
- Must be able to work in a variety of client locations, environments, and conditions
- Must be able to accommodate working various shifts as client activities are scheduled
- Must be able to withstand the rigors of extensive travel
- Ability to move and conduct work with full range of motion
- Ability to lift 25-50lbs (luggage)
- Extended periods of computer-based work
- Extended periods of standing
- EIT or Safety-related designation preferred (CSP, CFEI, CCPSC, PE, etc.)
- Experience with Combustible Dust, Flammable, and/or other Hazardous Materials is preferred
- Experience and strong knowledge in safety-related areas (PSM, RMP, combustible dust, chemical reaction hazards, flammable liquids/gases, etc.)
