The Technician Operation & Innovation Project Manager will support HVAC Service Technicians by implementing projects that enhance their safety and productivity, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve operations and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of a series of programs and applicable standard work to improve the efficiency of our technicians, mitigate safety risks, and increase the service level provided to our customers
- Conduct service technician needs assessments in collaboration with regional service leadership, and other key stakeholders, to identify high impact areas for improvement in the service technician workflow
- Partner with regional field teams to implement process changes and improvements, and facilitate best practice sharing
- Leverage field experience to help identify and implement solutions that minimize hazards and risks to our HVAC technicians and field associates
- Support our EHS organization by engaging in incident reviews and assisting with the identification and mitigation of incident root causes
- Collaborate with our Fleet team to ensure vehicle selections and upfitting address the safety and productivity needs of our drivers
- Partner with IT, Training and Development, and Technical Service and Support, to facilitate and improve technician on-boarding and development needs
- Gather and create relevant, current, and technician-specific content for monthly Operations Meetings. Work with Communications team to create monthly communication package for regions to use in their monthly Operations Meetings
- Use internal communication platforms to proactively share relevant technician-specific information, updates, and expectations
- Lead technician-specific discussion forums via our intercompany social networks to share important information and assist with improving safety and productivity
- Partner with SGTs and engineering teams to ensure serviceability is addressed in New Product Development (NDP) activities. Lead efforts to integrate serviceability into core products such as chillers and I-Paks
- Manage Service Specialty Tool program. Partner with regional offices and engineering for after-market specialty tool needs and engage with engineering on NPD standard work to ensure service tools are addressed during the product design phase
- Support Digital Transformation Team on identifying and deploying technician-specific technologies that improve productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction
- Lead efforts to improve and sustain the development and implementation of Service Interventions
- Support Services and Product Growth teams to help generate, develop, and launch new services offerings
- Work closely with digital and energy services teams to optimize the use of field technician technologies and tools
- Apply lean principles and the phase/gate process to run projects and drive continuous improvement opportunities
- Establish and validate business case models for HVAC Service technician improvement opportunities
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- A minimum of 8 years of experience as an HVAC Technician or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated success defining and launching projects and services
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent team management skills
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Sound project management, analysis, problem resolution, team-building, judgment and decision making skills
- Must be able to travel 25-35% of the time
- Lean Principles and Phase/Gate experience preferred
- Experience working within a complex organization that spans many functions and geographies
