The Principal Structural Engineer will serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Structural Engineering of Advanced Manufacturing Facilities, leading teams in design and evaluation while ensuring project requirements are met.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and conducts independent scope of work and technical specifications for Civil/Structural design on large Advanced Manufacturing and Data Center Facilities
- Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
- Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for the project to which assigned
- Authors Departmental standards and design guides to perform structural engineering design of Advanced Manufacturing Facilities
- Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements
- Originates and checks complex Civil/Structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
- Develops conceptual designs for Civil/Structural engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements
- Interviews client personnel to determine their needs, develops scope for cost estimates for services and participates in proposal preparation and presentation
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting
- Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data
Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
- Recognized as advanced contributor with experience in the design and design supervision of advanced manufacturing facilities
- Considered subject matter expert within structural engineering discipline
- Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
