Parsons is a leading company in critical infrastructure design and delivery, looking for a talented Project CADD Designer to join their team. The role involves leading design work across all project phases, providing technical leadership, and ensuring compliance with client and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of design work for all project phases, coordinating assignments related to design approach, schedules, standards, budgets, and procedures to meet scope requirements
- Provide technical guidance to project design and drafting staff in the development of complex system layouts and components using 2D and/or 3D CAD
- Anticipate and resolve design challenges for assignments that may not have clearly established precedents
- Ensure compliance with client requirements, company standards, applicable codes, specifications, tolerances, and safety factors
- Perform specialized design calculations and discipline-specific analysis
- Conduct interdisciplinary design reviews and coordinate data to ensure integrated and compatible project deliverables
- Direct checking activities and verify the mathematical and technical accuracy of drawings
- Participate in checking orthographic (2D) and isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others
- Provide manpower estimates and support project planning and resource forecasting
- Apply and support the development or revision of company design standards, procedures, and best practices
- Collaborate closely with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure high-quality and coordinated design solutions
- Review supplier and manufacturer drawings and technical data for integration into the overall design
- Mentor and train lower-level Designers in technical procedures and project workflows
- Serve as Lead CAD Designer on small- to medium-sized projects when required
- Interface with clients, suppliers, and contractors regarding project design issues
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate
Requirements:
- 10+ years experience (including some job leadership experience)
- Associate's Degree 2-year technical degree (or equivalent) is preferred
- Advanced CAD proficiency and strong working knowledge of design software used for complex engineering assignments
- Demonstrated ability to lead design efforts and perform in a project leadership capacity
- Strong understanding of industry codes, standards, and multidisciplinary coordination
- Experience performing complex design computations and technical analysis
- Proven ability to direct and review the work of other Designers and checking personnel
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project schedules
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Ability to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of design standards and workflows
