Chenega MIOS SBU is a company that supports large-scale government operations by leveraging cutting-edge technology. They are seeking a Network Engineer to remotely support the FCC’s DC site, responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure to ensure connectivity, security, and performance of network systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide remote support for LAN/WAN infrastructure at the FCC DC site, ensuring uptime, reliability, and performance
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, both hardware and software-related
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices
- Monitor network systems using approved tools and escalate issues when appropriate
- Support patching, firmware upgrades, and configuration changes in accordance with change control policies
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to resolve incidents and implement enhancements
- Maintain network documentation, including topology diagrams, IP schemas, and asset inventories
- Participate in network security efforts, including access control, port management, and segmentation
- Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and implementation of security best practices
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience; or
- Associate and 6+ years of relevant experience; or
- High School and 8+ years of relevant experience
- Active CompTIA Network + certification
- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain Public Trust Clearance
- Ability to work shift hours. Shift will be identified upon hire
- Ability to work nights/weekends/holidays as needed
- Proficiency in managing Cisco or equivalent network hardware
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies
- Ability to work independently in a remote capacity while coordinating with onsite staff
- Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
- Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
- Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting, as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues
- Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired
- Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it
