Initiate Government Solutions (IGS) is a Woman-Owned Small Business providing IT services to federal partners. They are seeking a Microservices Engineer to design, develop, and support API solutions aimed at modernizing access to data and services for veterans and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Oversee technical direction of 32 microservices across 6 agile teams
Participate in architecture and code reviews of Springboot and Ruby microservices as well as AWS Elastic Kubernetes YAML configurations
Advise on improvements to health and DORA monitors and metrics
Identify and recommend solutions to address scalability, reliability, and availability
Advise executives on strategic technology decisions related to microservices and team capacity
Oversee major deployments and high-risk secret key rotations
Oversee on-call operations

Requirements:

15+ years of software engineering experience with a preference for Java, Spring Boot, and Ruby expertise
Experience with DevOps including CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and version control systems
Experience operating in a 24/7 environment 99.999 SLA environment
Experience with public-facing APIs
Experience with complex backend data integrations
Experience with monitoring tools such as Data Dog, Kibana
Strong executive communication skills

US Citizenship required due to clearance requirement

Certifications in cloud technologies, API development, or secure software engineering
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
