We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Senior Electrical Engineer plays an important role in developing, maintaining, and executing product designs that keep impaired drivers off the road and enable drivers to get responsibly back behind the wheel. As part of a high-performing technical team, your work will be a critical part of innovative new product development and ensuring our current product supports our business growth.
1. Design and implement automotive interfacing electromechanical systems with embedded processors, analog and digital sensors and controls, including PCB design and layout.
2. Design communication buses with I2C, USB and UART, embedded and ARM processors.
3. Design communication platforms for cell, Bluetooth, WiFi, IoT and embedded systems functions.
4. Collaborate with Engineering and non-engineering team members to establish design requirements in an agile environment.
5. Use creativity and engineering principles to design custom components and integrate with off-the-shelf components.
6. Estimating and tracking program/project budgets.
7. Performs patent reviews/evaluations and contributes to the patent portfolio.
8. Collaborate with the test lab team to create test plans and establish ongoing and validation test protocols.
9. Design custom test and automation fixtures.
10. Develop and track product configuration analysis.
11. Identify and implement replacement solutions for end of life components.
12. Collaborate with suppliers to achieve desired functionality from purchased components
13. Prepare technical presentations, reports and other design documentation.
14. Utilize engineering experience, technical investigation skills, and experimental testing to determine the root cause of device failures.
15. Present findings and provide recommendations on project and product direction to business leaders.
16. All other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring to the Table:
1. BS electrical or computer engineering, or similar 4-yr technical degree.
2. Minimum of 4 years electrical product design experience.
3. Experience with electronics hardware development and working knowledge of interfacing mechanical hardware
4. Experience with digital and analog hardware such as fuel cells.
5. Knowledge of ODB-II, CAN, USB, UART, I2C, Bluetooth, WiFi and IoT platforms. Ethernet experience a plus.
6. Proficiency with PCB layout CAD, schematics, gerbers and other tools.
7. Experience with PLM software; Arena is a plus.
8. Experience with production environments and able to collaborate with productions staff to develop manufacturing solutions
9. Experience with project management and the product development cycle.
10. Knowledge of basic automotive control systems and IoT enabled devices.
11. Experience with automotive systems, breath sampling technology, user experience design and handheld technologies is desirable.
12. Travel to suppliers or customer sites, about 5-10% possible.
