Essential Functions:
Intern duties may vary by department, but typical responsibilities include:
- Assisting with administrative tasks, research, and project coordination.
- Supporting city events, community outreach programs, and department initiatives.
- Conducting data entry, report preparation, and basic analysis to support city operations.
- Collaborating with city employees to develop solutions for real-world challenges.
- Engaging with the public, answering inquiries, and providing customer service.
- Participating in team meetings, workshops, and trainings, and presenting findings on assigned projects.
- Attending select city tours, career panels, and/or city council or department meetings as part of the learning experience.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Minimum Requirements:
- High school junior or senior enrolled in Weld County School District 6 (or partner program, if applicable).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Positive workplace attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow through on assigned tasks.
Preferred Attributes:
- Interest in public service, local government, business, or related fields.
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to contribute to the Greeley community.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Work Environment:
- Work is primarily performed in an office or courtroom environment.
- Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent sitting, standing, or walking, or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
- The City of Greeley has established a formal telework policy that allows eligible positions, in coordination with their department’s management team, an opportunity to incorporate a component of remote work into their working schedule. This position will be eligible for consideration under the City's telework policy.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand.

- Vision enough to read and interpret computer keyboards and screens, books, and other written materials to complete work assignments; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Manual dexterity enough to accurately input, retrieve and verify work assignments; employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
