JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Program Responsibilities
- Arrive on deck, in uniform, ready to open pool safely, promptly and at the scheduled time
- When acting as a lifeguard/covering breaks, act as a role model guard and embody your expectations of the greater lifeguard team
- Plan & Perform ongoing trainings, VAT drops and drills to ensure daily rescue readiness of lifeguard staff
- Consistently monitor lifeguards for rescue readiness & professionalism, including consistent scanning patterns, 5-minute strategy, well executed guard rotations, and proper guard placement to ensure clear view of each zone of coverage
- Check to ensure all safety equipment is in place, functional and branch emergency action plan is able to be carried out successfully
- Report all accidents and incidents to supervisor on appropriate forms
- Attend all staff meetings scheduled by supervisor and provide updates on what you've been noticing/guard and facility feedback, etc
- Ensure management of pool set-up based on scheduled activities
- Assist in moving lap lanes, swim testing, placement of depth markers/buoys, and proper fitting of PFDs
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/Physical Requirements (Minimum required)
- Minimum 18 years old
- 1-3 years related experience
- Current Lifeguard certification in either Red Cross, YMCA, or Ellis and current certification in CPR, First Aid, AED and O2
- Must cross-over to Ellis Lifeguard Certification within 30 days
- Ellis or American Red Cross Lifeguard Trainer preferred
- Must be able to perform all physical tasks of a Lifeguard as well as lift an adult male from the pool onto the pool deck
- Complete program specific and employee orientation training by required timeline
