Leidos is looking for an IT Security Engineer Intern to support Leidos Business Protected Environments (BPEs). This role provides a hands-on opportunity to support the security, compliance, and risk posture of internal IT environments while working closely with experienced security engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor BPE environments using IT security dashboards and tools to identify alerts, findings, and required remediations
- Assist with implementing security and compliance requirements to maintain secure IT environments
- Support efforts to reduce or eliminate risks to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems
- Take corrective actions to address security issues in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Review security scan results and assist with developing and tracking remediation plans
- Work with the IT Security Engineering team to identify and communicate security risks to supported programs
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support secure system operations throughout the system lifecycle
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a master's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Fundamental understanding of information security principles gained through coursework or academic projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities
- Familiarity with Windows-based information systems
- Basic exposure to Linux operating systems
- Interest in cybersecurity operations, vulnerability management, or compliance frameworks
- Possess a current DoD 8570.01 compliant certification for IAM Level II, e.g. Security + w/CE
