About the role
The Director, People Partner leads a team of People Partners and serves as a strategic advisor to senior leaders across Riot. This role operationalizes Riot’s people strategy, ensuring People Partners deliver proactive, business-aligned support that strengthens performance, culture, and organizational effectiveness. The Director is responsible for elevating the People Partner function, building team capability, and ensuring consistency, quality, and strategic alignment across all client groups.
Essential Functions
Team Leadership & Partner Development
- Lead, coach, and develop People Partners to operate as strategic business partners who drive performance, culture, and organizational health.
- Establish expectations, operating rhythms, and standards that ensure consistent, high-quality partnership.
- Build manager and leader capability through coaching, guidance, and structured development.
Strategic Business Partnership
- Serve as a senior advisor to functional leaders, helping translate business needs into people strategies that fuel growth and accountability.
- Guide leaders through complex organizational decisions, such as team design, capability assessments, and workforce planning.
- Partner closely with Total Rewards, Talent Management, L&D, and Talent Acquisition to deliver integrated, enterprise-aligned programs.
Employee Relations Leadership
- Oversee employee relations approaches within assigned business units, ensuring adherence to legal standards and Riot’s expectations for fairness and accountability.
- Provide direction and oversight on sensitive or high-risk cases; equip People Partners with frameworks for consistency and strong judgment.
- Use ER insights to identify organizational risks, propose interventions, and advise leadership.
Culture, Engagement & Employee Experience
- Reinforce Riot’s culture of performance and accountability through coaching, consistent messaging, and leadership support.
- Leverage feedback, engagement data, and trends to recommend actions that improve the employee experience.
- Partner with leaders to address team health, trust, and communication gaps proactively.
Performance Management & Talent Planning
- Ensure People Partners effectively support leaders in Riot’s continuous performance management process.
- Provide guidance on performance calibration, goal setting, and leadership capability.
- Contribute insights to talent reviews, succession discussions, and development planning in partnership with Talent Management.
Data & Insight-Driven Decision Making
- Use people analytics and workforce insights to shape recommendations and influence leader decision making.
- Ensure People Partners understand and use data to drive consistency, accountability, and measurable impact.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field or equivalent.
- A minimum of 8 years’ HR/People Partner experience, with demonstrated success supporting senior leaders in high-growth or complex environments.
- Prior leadership experience managing a team of People Partners or HR Business Partners.
- Strong capability in employee relations, organizational design, and strategic partnership.
- Ability to influence, challenge, and coach leaders at all levels with confidence and clarity.
- Data-driven mindset and ability to connect insights to action.
