Description
The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical leadership, direction and support to operations in the areas of process development, equipment optimization, tooling, plant layout, continuous improvement and automation. The Manufacturing Engineer supports production teams to ensure high standards for performance, quality, reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness, and also works collaboratively with Product Engineering in the design and development of both legacy and new products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Functional
- Establish and maintain optimum production methods, tooling and equipment to support efficient and reliable manufacturing.
- Demonstrate full “process ownership” for assigned areas including:
- Providing on-floor support to meet safety, quality, productivity standards.
- Creating and maintaining process documentation (work instructions, routings and standard work)
- Equipment setup, operation and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain and Analyze process data to ensure process control and identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead and participate in special projects focused on improving process capability, reducing costs and improving equipment, with full accountability for project results.
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques to investigate process issues and implement sustainable corrective actions, integrating and streamlining processes throughout the supply chain to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Work with cross-functional teams including Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations to align manufacturing objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement and lean initiatives to reduce waste and improve flow.
- Train operators on process changes, new equipment, or updated procedures.
- Support facility layout and equipment installation planning to improve material flow and optimize space utilization.
Leadership
- Take accountability for project execution, results, and impact to business goals.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency in addressing operational needs and continuously driving improvements.
- Set clear goals and work proactively to overcome obstacles and ensure timely completion of assignments.
Interpersonal
- Collaborate closely with Design, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support process changes, resolve issues, and ensure smooth integration of new and existing products into manufacturing.
- Support a positive working environment by engaging with others respectfully and constructively.
- Engage with operators and support staff to understand process conditions and identify improvement opportunities.
Business
- Understand key business and financial metrics that impact manufacturing performance.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives by identifying opportunities for efficiency, quality, and cost improvements to meet the needs and requirements of customers or business partners in order to bring strategic value to them.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as applicable government and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, safety, environmental).
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
2 to 4 years experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering environment, preferably in electrical assembly or mechanical systems and test environment with knowledge of the manufacturing processes and process improvement techniques.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as be proficient in Microsoft applications, including:
· CAD software proficiency (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
· Experience with manufacturing process simulation and layout design.
· Experience with Lean/Six Sigma principles and root-cause analysis for process improvement
· Assist in specifying, selecting, and validating tools, fixtures, and production equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift and manipulate 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.

Requirements
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Experience or Skills
- Master’s Degree
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 3 years in a quality-focused role within the electric motor, automotive, or related industry.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred), and statistical process control (SPC).
- Strong knowledge in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and regulatory compliance (e.g., UL, CE, RoHS).
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent) as well as Autodesk Fusion 360 CAM.
- Knowledge of electric motor design, assembly, and testing processes is strongly desired.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivering results.
- Certifications: Six Sigma certification, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or similar credentials are highly desirable.
