Full-time Lecturer - Mathematics

Job Summary

The Mathematics Department in the Bailey College of Science and Mathematics at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, is seeking to hire one full-time lecturer for a two-year contract, with appointment beginning August 17, 2026 and ending approximately May 19, 2028. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated hiring range for a finalist with a master's degree is $67,404 - $71,508 annually. The anticipated hiring range for a finalist with a doctorate degree is $78,432 - $89,772 annually. Primary duties and responsibilities are to teach undergraduate pre-calculus and calculus courses.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mathematics or closely related discipline such as Physical Science or Engineering is required.
• Master’s degree must be conferred and official transcripts received before August 17, 2026.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is preferred.
• Experience teaching a wide range of undergraduate mathematics courses at the collegiate level.

Special Conditions

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

About the Department

The Mathematics Department offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses. There are approximately 175 sections of math classes each quarter with an average lower-division enrollment of 35 per class. The faculty consists of approximately 33 permanent faculty, 15 temporary (both full-time and part-time), and 15 graduate teaching associates. The Mathematics Department does not offer any courses in statistics or computer science.
