Key Responsibility Areas include but are not limited to:
Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily food service operations and workflow efficiency
- Supervise production functions including recordkeeping, temperature logs, and sanitation schedules
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, HACCP procedures, and school nutrition programs
- Manage procurement, inventory, and food cost controls
- Monitor departmental budgets and approve purchases
- Maintain kitchen equipment and coordinate repairs and replacements
- Act as backup for Lead staff and Administrative Assistants when needed
- Maintain strong communication with internal departments and external clients
Service & Menu Coordination
- Plan and coordinate service plans and special events, including catering
- Collaborate with Registered Dietitians and the Director of Food & Nutrition Services on menu development
- Support implementation of special diets and nutrition requirements
Team Leadership & Development
- Schedule, supervise, and coach staff
- Conduct regular team meetings and performance evaluations
- Support hiring and onboarding of new team members
- Train staff on policies, procedures, and best practices
- Review and approve schedules, payroll, and exceptions
Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

Three to five years of experience in food service, including supervisory responsibilities, required.

Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, or food service management preferred.

ServSafe or equivalent 8-hour food safety and sanitation certification required. Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred.

Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred, along with experience in catering and the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).

A combination of education and experience may be considered to provide equivalent knowledge and skills.
