ABB is a company that helps industries run leaner and cleaner, and they are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead technical direction and project execution. The role involves technical leadership, customer support, knowledge sharing, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Leads technical direction, approves designs, solves complex engineering challenges, and ensures safety, cybersecurity, and quality compliance while driving advanced concepts and design priorities
- Partners with customers to shape solutions, resolves technical issues, supports proposals, and ensures design principles and project deliverables meet contractual and performance requirements
- Coaches engineers, conducts peer reviews, applies design thinking, drives standards and tool improvements, and promotes best practices through workshops and verification activities
- Manages planning, cost estimates, supply chain evaluations, manufacturing/testing coordination, and commissioning support, ensuring accurate deliverables, risk management, and contract adherence
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field required
- 8+ years of experience with 2+ years dedicated to SCADA system design and strong knowledge of Industrial Networking (e.g., ABB Zenon, GE CIMPLICITY, GE iFIX, Wonderware, Ignition, ClearSCADA, etc.) preferred
- Control Systems & Automation Expertise: Proficient in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, alarming, trends, control logic, and control system architecture—including relays, controllers, processors, and industrial automation platforms
- Industrial Networking & Cybersecurity: Strong knowledge of L2/L3 networking, VLANs, routing, redundant topologies (RSTP/PRP/HSR), diagnostics tools, secure remote access, and OT cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443)
- Protocols, Hardware & Integration: Experienced with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP), and network hardware (managed switches, firewalls, gateways, routers)
- Technical Leadership & Cross‑Functional Skills: Skilled in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, quality control, change management, power systems understanding, and multidisciplinary collaboration; proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD/ePlan, SAP, and emerging IIoT/cloud solutions
