Senior QA Engineer

Skylight is a technology startup based out of Los Angeles and San Francisco focused on creating products that improve family life. They are seeking a Senior QA Engineer to perform exploratory and automated testing, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure high-quality software delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with product and engineering during project scoping and refinement to identify risk and establish test plans
• Manual exploratory testing and validation of new projects within your pod
• Testing Android-based software running on custom hardware and firmware
• Working with engineers and QA to define, design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts across and between our tech stacks (mobile, android, web, backend)
• Participating in bug triage and incident response to reproduce and advocate for timely resolution of important software defects
• Collaborating with QA team members across pods to improve testing efficiency and foster a sustainable workload amongst the team

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in the quality assurance field
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication
• Capable of analyzing business requirements from a customer's perspective
• Hands-on testing experience with mobile devices (Android + iOS)
• Experience testing software on embedded Android devices
• Familiarity with ADB, system logs, and Android internals
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to identify and foresee requirement gaps
• Experienced with logging and tracking defects throughout the defect lifecycle
• Strong understanding of the SDLC, Agile testing, and software testing methodologies
