The Fabricator is responsible for fabricating and assembling structural metal components for truck beds based on job orders or blueprints. This hands-on role utilizes a variety of tools, machines, and technical skills to create high-quality metal products.
- Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal components
- Read and interpret tape measures, blueprints, and job specifications
- Select appropriate materials (steel, aluminum, etc.) by gauge and type
- Set up and operate fabricating machinery including shears, brakes, presses, and forming tools
- Trim, file, grind, deburr, and finish materials using hand and power tools
- Join components via spot welding, soldering, riveting, and bolting
- Install fabricated parts using hand and power tools
- Inspect final products using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools
- May operate CAD software or laser/plasma cutting equipment
- All other duties as assigned by management
- Strong understanding of metal fabrication techniques
- Skilled in blueprint reading and measuring tools
- Attention to detail and focus on quality craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience using applicable tools and fabrication gauges
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation
This role works mostly indoors with occasional outdoor tasks. Conditions may include high heat, loud noise, fumes, and exposure to welding arc light. Use of PPE is mandatory.
- Standing or sitting up to 10 hours per day
- Lifting up to 40 lbs frequently and 75 lbs occasionally (with assistance)
- Carrying materials up to 60 feet
- Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and rotating
- Pushing/pulling pallet jacks up to 2000 lbs (or 4000 lbs with assistance)
