Salary: $76,313.27 – $86,898.73 – Permanent Full-Time, based on a 35-hour work week.
An additional 10.75% Job Family Market Multiplier will be added to the posted salary.
An additional 3% Location Allowance will be added to posted salary for northern location.
About the Job:
The Business Intelligence Analyst (Analyst) plays a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making at the BCER by developing, maintaining, and enhancing Business Intelligence (BI) tools, dashboards, and reporting capabilities. The role is responsible for extracting, integrating, and validating data from multiple sources, ensuring its accuracy and reliability, and supporting both operational and strategic needs across the organization.
The Analyst contributes to advanced analytics and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) initiatives by preparing datasets, building prototypes, and collaborating with data science teams to deliver predictive insights. In addition, the Analyst provides training and guidance to business users, promotes adoption of self-service analytics, and supports data governance, quality management, and integration efforts.
This role requires strong analytical skills, solid technical expertise in BI and data practices, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights. The Analyst is expected to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and collaborate across departments to enhance BCER’s data and analytics capabilities, while also contributing to research and analysis on issues of strategic importance to the organization.

Business Intelligence Analyst
Develop, maintain, and optimize BI tools, dashboards, KPIs, and reports to support data-driven decision-making.
Extract, validate, and integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and compliance with data governance and quality standards.
Support advanced analytics, AI/ML, and predictive modeling initiatives by preparing datasets, building prototypes, and collaborating on deployment and evaluation.
Conduct research and analysis to generate actionable insights, assess program effectiveness, and support leadership decision-making.
Provide training, guidance, and user support on BI tools, dashboards, and self-service analytics practices.
Oversee BI system administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align BI capabilities with business priorities, streamline data integration, and enhance reporting.
Assist with end-to-end BI project management, including requirement gathering, design, testing, and user training.
Contribute to data virtualization and integration initiatives to simplify access to key data across enterprise systems.
Participate in data governance, metadata management, and continuous improvement of data quality to strengthen organizational analytics capabilities.
Education:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or Computer Science, and a minimum of four years of relevant experience.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Experience:
Demonstrated experience writing SQL queries to gather and analyze data from various data sources, including Relational Database Management Systems (e.g.: Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server).
Demonstrated experience working in an operational Business Intelligence (BI) environment, including data analysis and reporting, developing BI capabilities, and providing user support.
Demonstrated experience supporting advanced analytics or collaborating with data science teams.
Demonstrated experience with data modeling, Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, database design, and metadata management.
Demonstrated experience conducting research, analysis, and preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings effectively.
Demonstrated experience in Agile project management and communicating complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
Demonstrated experience applying AI/ML techniques (e.g.: regression, classification) and exposure to predictive analytics or advanced modeling projects.
Demonstrated experience applying knowledge of data governance, quality management practices, and enterprise data standards.
Preference may be given to those with exposure to cloud data environments (e.g.: Azure), data virtualization, or orchestration tools.
