Purpose of the role
Our Balance Sheet Management & Regulatory Reporting Lab is structured into Feature Teams, each aligned to an end-to-end product journey. These are underpinned by enterprise technologies and business partnerships recognised as best in class across the Treasury and Finance systems domain.
We need a Quality Engineer who will have the opportunity to play a critical role in testing solutions that can provide continuous flow of value to our colleagues, and will be responsible for:
- Undertaking functional and non-functional testing of software changes to deliver products that are fit for purpose and meet the quality expectations of our customers.
- Developing yourselves with industry standards, methods and tooling used across our engineering teams and introduce new concepts and approaches.
- Using your experience of modern software development toolsets and demonstrate the ability to stretch into DevOps, Continuous Integration and Delivery pipelines.
- Expressing your own opinions and be pragmatic about modifying them when appropriate.
- Using toolsets such as GitHub, Jenkins and Selenium with the ability to create/maintain the automation framework.
- Working "hands-on" alongside all other Engineering Disciplines.
- Model the behaviours required to support the organisation's transformation to new ways of working.
- Using an automation test approach with a passion for driving efficiency and a focus on reducing risk.
- Logical and creative thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and to take ownership - and uses own initiative.
- Communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
- Leading, Innovating & working as part of an agile team.
- Use your experience of modern software development toolsets and demonstrate the ability to stretch into DevOps, Continuous Integration and Delivery pipelines.
- Experience in Java TestNG framework
- Good to have- Python, BDD(Cucumber), CI/CD and GitHub knowledge
What we need from you?
We need a Quality Engineer who will have previous career experience in software testing and must be keen and comfortable communicator who is happy working with a wide range of technical and non-technical colleagues. As a role that can require demanding delivery timeframes, you will need to be self-organised and be able to proactively prioritise your time.
Essential skills & main accountabilities
- Has experienced working in multi-disciplinary Product, Platform and/or Feature teams.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Experience of full life cycle of design, implementation of running of enterprise software solutions involving cross functional team collaboration.
- Expertise in SQL.
- Expertise in at least one programming language such as Python or Java, and associated tooling (Git, Maven, IDE’s, Jenkins etc).
- A solid Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering background with a good knowledge of Test Lifecycle, Test Models, Best Practices, Test Benchmarking and Test Tools. This includes a good awareness of Test Data and Environments.
- Be able to project and implement automation approach in different phases of software delivery process that aids speed to market, better quality and reduces risks.
- Experience with toolsets including Selenium, Cucumber, GitHub, with a willingness to learn and develop those skills that will be needed for success in the future.
- Work in cross-disciplinary feature teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions and high-quality software.
- Showcase excellent interpersonal and communications skills whilst expertly working across the project lifecycle to ensure software operates as intended.
- Exercise responsibility, autonomy, and judgement within broad, but well-defined parameters.
- Work in a highly collaborative way to complete assigned work, showcase progress and address problems that are well defined, complex, and often non-routine.
- Be a quick learner with a growth mindset adapting to new technologies being used within Lloyds and the wider industry whilst bringing those around them on the same journey.
- Significant problem solving, fixing and analytical skills.
- Experience of leading test teams, test management, Coordination of testing across our partners and mentoring junior team members.
- Knowledge of DevOps/CI/CD and agile methodology.
