The Software Integration Engineer is responsible for implementing, updating, maintaining, and supporting STERIS ORI software products within hospital enterprise network environments and ensuring successful software integration into Customer environments.
Responsibilities:
- Integrates the most advanced software and IT solutions for hospital enterprise network environments
- Configures, installs, monitors, and supports various STERIS information management products, while also addressing Customer cybersecurity, network and IT setups
- Directly works with Customers to set up remote access (VPN)
- Writes and modifies software, scripts, and other code to make deployment of enterprise-wide software products more efficient
- Provides advanced knowledge and experience in hospital-specific IT environments to guide Customers on deployment of software compliant with HIPAA
- Provide first-line and advanced application support via phone and e-mail. Resolves escalated (Tier 2 – Advanced) support and IT issues through systematic analysis of problems into root causes and mitigation
- Documents root cause and corrective action within escalated tickets. Creates and maintains software implementation and support documentation, mentors and trains other teammates in service engineering
- Evaluates new STERIS software and features, runs end-to-end tests and troubleshooting on STERIS and Customer systems as needed
- Proactively becomes an expert user of the STERIS OR Integration products so that excellent support can be provided to Customers
- Improves operations by conducting systems analysis, recommending changes in policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (4-year accredited degree) in Information Systems (IS), Computer Science (CS), Software Engineering, Technology, or equivalent required
- 4+ years in client-facing technical support or administration of complex IT solutions, experience with infrastructure and applications for Installation and Serviceability is desirable
- 2+ years' experience with HIPAA, medical environment (EMR, HL7, PACS/DICOM, VNAs), Imaging and Clinical (surgical) workflows and FDA regulatory compliance preferred
- Practical knowledge of Networking, especially around network components, topologies, and access. Strong knowledge in TCP/IP, certificate/key management, remote access through VPN and/or similar protocols
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix Operating systems
- Fluency in Linux command line to execute GNU and Unix commands
- Expert on Linux topics such filesystems, monitoring system processes, managing permissions/ownership and maintaining system security
- Proficient in creating, managing, and maintaining cronjobs for system scheduled tasks
- Strong experience in interpreting, analyzing, and managing system logs to identify any system performance issue
- Proficient in writing and debugging bash scripts. Proven ability to test scripts in various environments with strong knowledge of security best practices in scripting
- Familiarity and working knowledge of using Ansible
- Experience in Docker architecture with an understanding of containerization principles, including running, and managing Docker containers and images is highly desirable
- Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with customers in person, via phone, text, Skype, and via email

- Excellent problem troubleshooting and solving skills
- Understand and update JavaScript, CSS, XML, HL7, Json and other configuration file types
- RedHat system administration certificate (RHCSA) or CompTIA Linux+ is a plus
- Knowledge of Healthcare domain and Operating Room workflow preferred
