2026 Summer Intern - Mechanical/Architectural Engineering Intern

Charles River Laboratories is an early-stage contract research organization focused on improving health and well-being globally. They are seeking a Mechanical/Architectural Engineering Intern to assist their Global Engineering team with various projects related to building systems and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

• Assist our Global Engineering team (remote)
• Support the development, maintenance, and optimization of building and facilities-related systems
• Assisting with equipment assessments
• Updating engineering documentation
• Collecting and analyzing system performance data
• Collaborating with Facilities Engineering staff on projects involving HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems
• Support ongoing efforts to develop and enhance the site facility analytics database
• Engaged in data collection, manipulation, and results presentation
• Work directly with the Charles River Labs Engineering and Sustainability Teams
• Provide exposure to real-world facility operations, troubleshooting, and project execution in a fast-paced engineering environment
• Provide opportunities to present to small groups in a safe and encouraging environment to help build on public speaking and executive presence

Requirements:

• Student currently enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Ability to fulfill internship position obligations based on summer break timing, potentially May - August
• Effective communication and listening skills in a teamwork environment
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with a strong attention to detail
• Possess proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa
