UFP Industries is seeking a Project Engineer I to support detailed engineering development across multiple retail and commercial programs. The role involves producing accurate engineering packages, coordinating with internal teams and offshore engineering teams, and ensuring project requirements are met efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation for assigned programs
- Coordinate daily with idX China engineering teams to review progress, clarify details, and resolve issues
- Translate design intent into manufacturable solutions that meet cost, quality, and timeline expectations
- Review engineering work for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project requirements
- Manage engineering schedules, deliverables, and resource needs across multiple concurrent programs
- Collaborate with Project Management, Estimating, Manufacturing, and Account teams to ensure technical alignment
- Identify engineering risks early and provide mitigation options to protect schedule and quality
- Maintain clear, timely communication with all stakeholders, including off‑hours coordination as required
- Evaluate materials, construction methods, and manufacturing requirements
- Provide value engineering options where appropriate
- Support prototype reviews, shop questions, and manufacturing handoff activities
- Ensure adherence to idX engineering standards and documentation protocols
- Maintain organized engineering files, revisions, and supporting data
- Document changes, clarifications, and decisions for internal and China teams
- Support final engineering package releases and production turnover requirements

- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables
- Ability to work effectively with offshore engineering teams; international coordination experience preferred
- Willingness to work outside standard U.S. hours when required to support China engineering schedules
- Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal
- High attention to detail and strong technical problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks) preferred
