Job Summary/Description:
This is your chance to join an award-winning, forward-thinking newsroom. KPLC in Lake Charles seeks a motivated and dynamic MMJ to join our news team. A successful candidate must be a proven leader who doesn’t shy away from breaking news, is motivated by investigative journalism, and has a passion for storytelling. Balancing creativity with journalistic integrity is key. Candidates must communicate effectively, cultivate sources, produce high-impact live reports, and stay calm in high-energy situations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, generating story ideas, setting up interviews, writing broadcast and digital versions of stories, maintaining professional social media accounts, and assisting producers in showcasing stories. MMJ will write, shoot, edit, go “live,” work under deadlines, present live news in an urgent and active manner, and produce digital content.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Qualified candidates must possess strong live reporting skills and be driven by breaking news.
- The successful candidate must be proficient in social media platforms and digital streams.
- Driving, shooting video, producing live shots, editing, and writing are required for this position.
- A college Degree in journalism or a related field, an internship, and or professional newsroom experience, and experience with Edius, ENPS, and LiveU are a plus.
- Must have excellent people skills.
