The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Lead is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with demonstrated leadership skills and clinical excellence as an Advanced Practice Provider. The APP Lead provides clinical guidance, leadership, and patient care management, while serving as a mentor to educate other APPs and staff.?
The APP Lead serves as the primary resource for NP/PAs in the Division of Neurosurgery and is responsible for APP role optimization, orientation of new team members, staffing, day-to-day clinical schedules and coordination, and for acting as the liaison to the division APP Physician Supervisor(s). This position reports to the Division Chief of Neurosurgery and requires significant cross functional leadership to coordinate the activities of the Division NPs and PAs with clinical division physician and administrative leadership.
This position is a secondary administrative appointment with approximately 2-4 hours per week of time is devoted to the team lead administrative duties and remainder maintaining clinical practice within the Division of Neurosurgery.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical guidance Lead APP works collaboratively to evaluate, implement and optimize advanced practice models in the Division and is responsible for the application of APP processes and provide clinical guidance to the team?
- Mentor and educate Lead APP mentors APPs and staff on patient care, resource utilization, time management and professional development
- Coordinate and direct Lead APP coordinates and directs other APPs and staff, including organizing, reviewing work schedules/ coverage, workforce planning and optimizing workflows
- Implement strategies Lead APP implements strategies to achieve operational and financial targets, such as decreasing length of stay, optimizing safety and efficiency, improving patient access to care and maximizing billing workflows?
- Develop clinical rotations Lead APP develops and monitors clinical rotations for APPs?and rotating students, as applicable
- Contribute to annual evaluations and recruitment Lead APP may collaborate with physicians and management to provide insight on annual evaluations for APPs?and participate in recruitment and professional development activities
Qualifications?
- Master’s or Doctorate’s degrees from accredited Nursing Program or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited PA program
- Active PA or APNP license in CA and board certification
- Active DEA or ability to apply prior to hire
- Current BLS and ACLS certification is required prior to hospital rotation
- Min. 2-3 years of experience as an APP in Neurosurgery
Position Details
- Position is located in Newport Beach, CA
- Full time, Monday – Friday, office and hospital rounding (possible weekend rounding)
- Responsibility spans locations in Newport Beach, Irvine and San Clemente
