What You’ll Do

This is a skilled position that conducts general labor and maintenance activities as needed to maintain the safe and efficient operation of the Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) plant. Additionally, this position needs to safely and efficiently operate various types of construction equipment including but not limited to loaders, skid steers, dump trucks, Etc.

 

Location: Salem, OR. Must be willing to travel between sites as needed.

Wage: $29.14+/hr DOE w/ potential for overtime during our busy season.

Shift: Primarily work 10-12 hours per day 5 days per week, and up to 6 days per week per week as needed during the busy construction season. Must have flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed per business demands.

 

What You Can Do (Minimum Qualifications)

• Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
• Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
• Demonstrates the ability to work overtime and weekends/holidays/nights as needed.
• Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
• Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.
• Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in asphalt production, crushing, and/or related field.
• Knowledge of machines, equipment, mechanic’s hand tools, power tools, welding and cutting equipment, lubricating tools, hoists, cranes, and service trucks.
• Knowledge of asphalt and production equipment.
• Welding/torching skills.
• Heavy Equipment experience.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Perform general clean-up, maintenance, and housekeeping tasks at the Asphalt Plant.
• Shovel excess materials from around conveyors and other areas to prevent build up.
• Operate skid steer.
• Operate loader to feed the asphalt plant.
• Be part of a team dedicated to safely providing quality products to our internal and external customers. 
• Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material.
• Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
• Regular and timely attendance.
• Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
• Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50 lbs. Physical abilities test will be required. Our team will provide you with the necessary PPE, but please provide your own pair of steel-toed or composite boots.
