
The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) is the lead enterprise technology organization for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Charged with driving the ongoing alignment of business and technology across the Commonwealth’s Executive Branch, EOTSS oversees and manages the enterprise technology, digital infrastructure and services, as well as the Commonwealth Security Operations Center and an enterprise Standard Operating Environment that includes an information security and risk management framework for over 125 state agencies and over 43,000 state employees. We directly serve our constituents by providing digital services and tools that enable taxpayers, drivers, businesses, visitors, families and other citizens to do business with the Commonwealth in a way that makes every interaction with government easier, faster, and more secure.

Position Overview
The Data Platform Administrator Intern supports the administration and maintenance of enterprise data platforms including Snowflake, Alation, Tableau, and Informatica. This intern role assists with user access management, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and cloud-hosted application support. The position provides hands-on experience with SQL, Python, and SDLC-based processes. This role is ideal for candidates seeking to build foundational experience in enterprise data platforms within a collaborative technical environment.
The primary work location for this role will be at One Ashburton Place Boston, Massachusetts 02108. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM. This position is expected to follow a hybrid model of reporting to work that combines in-office workdays and work from home days as needed.
The Summer Internship Program is a 10-week paid opportunity running from June 1 through August 7. To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university or be a recent graduate (May 2026 graduation date).
All offers of employment into this position are conditional and subject to passing: a Massachusetts Criminal Background Check (CORI); a security clearance (fingerprinting) consistent with IRS and/or public safety requirements; and security training.
Key Responsibilities
Support user account administration and access management for Alation, Tableau, and Informatica.
Monitor system performance and assist in troubleshooting application and data issues.
Write and optimize basic SQL queries for reporting and validation.
Assist with Python scripting for automation and support tasks.
Participate in testing activities, including system and user acceptance testing.
Document procedures, configurations, and support activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to resolve issues.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated foundational proficiency in SQL, including writing queries to extract, filter, and analyze structured data.
Working knowledge of Python (or similar scripting languages) to support data manipulation, automation, and basic scripting tasks.
Foundational understanding of cloud computing concepts, with exposure to platforms such as AWS, Azure, or comparable environments.
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including requirements gathering, testing, and documentation best practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
Eagerness to learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Time management and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
