
We are looking for two Exhibition Fabrication Technician
What we are looking for:
Advanced carpentry and cabinetmaking expertise for custom exhibit fabrication ;
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and produce shop drawings ;
Strong finishing skills (paint, laminates, acrylic, glass, faux finishes) ;
Experience installing exhibit components in gallery spaces ;
Ability to provide technical solutions and solve design challenges ;
Strong commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.
Minimum seven (7) to ten (10) years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience:
Advanced experience in carpentry/cabinetmaking ;
Experience in a museum, gallery, or conservation environment ;
Experience with specialized exhibit systems (Unistrut, Octanorm or similar) ;
Experience operating workshop equipment (CNC, saws, routers, planers, etc.) ;
Experience with on-site installation and safe material handling.
Knowledge of:
Museum conservation principles ;
Exhibition development processes ;
Specialized materials (acrylic, MDF, laminates, metals, glass, etc.) ;
Technical design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Illustrator) ;
Low-voltage installation (LEDs, transformers).
Education: Diploma of Professional Studies (DEP) in Cabinetmaking or equivalent training.
Certifications:
Elevated platform certification ;
Forklift certification ;
Fall protection certification ;
First Aid certification ;
WHMIS certification ;
Valid driver’s license.
Compensation: $ 74,702 to $ 92,451(E5)
Status: 2 Temporary Full-Time 18 months determinate contract (# (#90384 and #90385)
