The Tank Technician is responsible for assisting with the cleaning and removal of various substances from crude oil storage tanks, pipelines, and industrial processing equipment. This position performs physically demanding work involving the removal of crude oil, sludge, chemical residue, and other materials while maintaining strict adherence to safety procedures, permitting requirements, and environmental standards.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Perform heavy physical labor associated with industrial tank cleaning operations.
- Clean interiors of large crude oil storage tanks, pipelines, and industrial processing tanks.
- Remove crude oil, ballast water, emulsions, sludge, and other residues from tanks and pipelines.
- Operate industrial liquid-moving tools such as large squeegees to move crude oil and sludge to recovery areas.
- Monitor external tank trucks and assist with material transfer operations.
- Connect hoses to water or steam lines to flush tank walls, roofs, and bottoms to remove oil, grease, and sludge.
- Scrape and scrub tank surfaces to remove incrustations, scale, or deposits.
- Squeegee crude oil and sludge into recovery areas, sumps, or designated removal points.
- Remove chemical residues and liquids from tank bottoms using pumps, suction hoses, or manual tools.
- Dry tanks using portable air-drying equipment.
- Assist with testing gas content in tanks to ensure safe entry and work conditions.
- Add specified chemicals to tanks as directed to maintain processing solutions.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment and materials for mobilization.

- Maintain compliance with the required HSE Training.
- Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
- Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
- Performs work in strict compliance with permitting requirements, Alaska Safety Handbook (ASH) Standards and other compliance-oriented directives.
- Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.
- Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
- Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
- Promote and participate in Safety Programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and cleaning equipment.
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces and industrial environments.
- Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions and remote locations.
- Ability to clearly speak, write, read and understand the English language.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A valid driver's license
- NSTC card
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous North Slope or remote industrial site experience.
- Previous tank cleaning experience.
- Strong attention to safety procedures and situational awareness.

- Position may be exposed to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction site. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
- Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.

A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. FCE LEVEL #3
- MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
- LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
- HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
- VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
- RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurements will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
