Metric Geo is representing a confidential consulting client seeking a Director of Engineering Services to lead a team focused on machinery and equipment failure investigations. This role combines technical leadership, project oversight, and client engagement across complex industrial loss assignments, ideal for an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with a PE license.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support a team of engineering consultants conducting equipment failure investigations
- Provide technical oversight and review engineering findings before final delivery to clients
- Coordinate new assignments and define investigation scope with clients
- Evaluate damaged machinery and industrial systems to determine failure causes
- Support cost analysis for repair or replacement of equipment following incidents
- Ensure reports are technically sound and clearly written for non-technical audiences
- Travel to inspection sites when required to evaluate equipment and support investigations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Approximately 10+ years of engineering experience, ideally including failure analysis or technical consulting
- Experience evaluating industrial or commercial equipment systems
- Strong leadership and project coordination skills
- Excellent technical writing and communication ability
- Experience investigating equipment failures in industrial environments
- Familiarity with mechanical systems such as motors, compressors, conveyors, generators, or production equipment
- Experience supporting complex claims, incident investigations, or large equipment losses
- Ability to travel nationally as needed
- Candidates located near major airports are preferred due to travel requirements
