Associate’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, illustration, or a related field, or equivalent, and two (2) years of related graphic design experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the role may be considered for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Job Summary:
Supports the university’s strategic priorities by employing a broad range of creative design skills to inform and engage internal and/or external audiences. This role plays a key part in advancing awareness of UTMB Health and its four mission areas—patient care, research, innovation, and education—as well as driving clinical business to UTMB physicians, hospitals, and other health care services. The position will collaborate with internal teams as well as university programs and department stakeholders. Position includes direct communication with target audiences, content creators, and marketing strategists, as well as activities that facilitate communication by the President and other university executives, programs, and departments.
Job Duties:
- Design and create visually dynamic print and digital collateral, including clinic materials, provider promotional packets, advertisements, event outreach assets, website graphics, social media graphics, fliers, banners, and other marketing materials.
- Support Faculty Group Practice and clinical initiative projects by developing standardized, on-brand collateral that aligns with UTMB brand standards.
- Create suites of print and digital materials that support the clinical pillar of UTMB, including materials for new and existing providers.
- Develop and maintain promotional packet suites for provider recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing clinical marketing needs.
- Create consistently branded clinic collateral across 49+ sites and four campuses, ensuring visual consistency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Create marketing advertisements aligned with UTMB brand standards to support clinical outreach, service line promotion, and event initiatives; and create and maintain design systems for the clinical pillar, supporting consistency across templates, layouts, typography, and visual elements.
- Follow brand guidelines to develop consistent campaign materials across various media.
- Prepare and present design drafts for feedback, revision, and approval within the design and branding team.
- Use a project management tool to collaborate with team members across the organization, including the Academic Enterprise and Health System, and manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and design techniques.
- Incorporation of motion graphics and animations is a plus.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of print and digital design projects.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Ability to take constructive feedback and articulate design choices.
- Knowledge of current design trends in graphics, marketing, and web design.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with digital, content, media, design, and social media teams.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Experience with basic web design and familiarity with HTML/CSS is a plus.
Salary Range:
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
