U.S. Bank is seeking the position of Software Engineer – Microservices and SOA in Irving, Texas.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Software Engineer – Microservices and SOA will be responsible for designing and developing scalable microservices and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) services using Spring Boot and Java/J2EE frameworks. Leverage microservices to build loosely coupled, independently deployable components that enhance system flexibility and maintainability. Implement Java Persistence API (JPA) along with Hibernate as underlying Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks to facilitate seamless and robust database interactions within applications. Design entity classes that map to database tables, configuring Hibernate sessions and transactions, and leveraging JPA repository patterns to perform Create, Read, Update, and Delete (CRUD) operations efficiently. Design, develop, and maintain robust RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless communication between front-end interfaces and back-end systems. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure APIs are efficiently integrated with various back-end applications, optimizing data flow and enhancing overall system performance. Utilize a variety of messaging systems including JMS (Java Message Service), ActiveMQ, IBM MQ, and Kafka to enable reliable messaging and seamless inter-service communication within distributed applications. Conduct comprehensive testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle using established frameworks such as JUnit for unit testing and Mockito for mocking dependencies, ensuring robust and reliable code functionality by identifying and resolving potential issues early in the development process. Utilize Docker for containerizing microservices, ensuring consistency across development, testing, and production environments. Manage orchestration and deployment of these containerized applications using Kubernetes, and Amazon EKS and Rancher for cluster management, scalability, and monitoring. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with business objectives. Position may allow working from home within a commuting distance of worksite location. Multiple Positions.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a Software Engineer or Application Developer.
Required Skills/Experience:
Must possess 5 years of experience with all of the following: designing, developing, and integrating microservices using Spring Boot to streamline and enhance backend system functionality; implementing modular and scalable service architectures, ensuring efficient communication between services through RESTful APIs; utilizing Spring Boot's capabilities to reduce development complexity and improve maintainability; collaboration with frontend and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration, deployment, and performance optimization; designing, developing, and testing scalable and secure RESTful APIs using Java and the Spring Boot framework; architecting API endpoints to support front-end and third-party integrations; implementing best practices for object-oriented design and microservices architecture; writing unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability; designing, developing, and implementing integration solutions that connect modern APIs with legacy mainframe systems to support both commercial and consumer-facing services; analyzing existing mainframe environments, identifying integration points, and utilizing middleware, API gateways, and data translation tools to ensure seamless and secure data exchange; Java; SQL; Spring Boot; Hibernate; JPA; JMS; ActiveMQ; IBM MA; Kakfa; Docker; Kubernets; JUnit; and Mockito.
