This role is accountable for:
- Defining and governing cloud and infrastructure architecture direction
- Acting as the lead architect for complex and strategic initiatives
- Leading, developing, and governing the cloud and infrastructure architecture practice
The role ensures that cloud and infrastructure solutions are secure, scalable, costeffective, and aligned with business and delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture Leadership
- Own cloud and infrastructure architecture principles, standards, and reference architectures
- Act as lead architect for complex, highrisk, or strategic initiatives
- Define targetstate architectures and modernization roadmaps
- Ensure architectures meet requirements for security, resilience, availability, and cost efficiency
Architecture Governance & Authority
- Serve as final design authority for cloud and infrastructure architectural decisions
- Establish and lead architecture governance and design review forums
- Review and approve solution architectures produced by architects and delivery teams
- Resolve architectural tradeoffs and conflicts across platforms and programs
Leadership of the Architecture Practice
- Lead and manage cloud, infrastructure, and platform architects as a unified practice
- Define clear roles, expectations, and quality standards for architects
- Build a strong community of practice, including mentoring and skills development
- Own capability uplift, knowledge sharing, and succession planning for the architecture function
Strategy, Enablement & Stakeholder Engagement
- Translate business and technology strategy into actionable cloud and infrastructure roadmaps
- Partner with security, operations, and delivery leaders to align architecture with execution
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior technology leaders and executives
- Ensure architecture outputs are practical, adopted, and support delivery outcomes
Required Experience & Capabilities
Technical Expertise
- 15+ years’ experience in cloud and infrastructure architecture
- Deep knowledge of AWS and/or Azure and enterprise scale hybrid environments
- Strong experience with infrastructure platforms, networking, identity, security, and resilience
- Hands on experience with Infrastructure as Code and modern cloud practices
Leadership & Influence
- Proven experience leading architects as a function, not just as individual contributors
- Strong architectural judgement and decision making authority
- Ability to balance delivery urgency with long term architectural sustainability
- Excellent communication skills across technical and nontechnical stakeholders
You will be successful in this role if you have:
BA/BS degree and 15 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Graduate degree preferred
4-6 years’ leadership experience
Cloud Architect Certifications
