Underwriting Assistant – Financial Lines
The Underwriting Assistant supports the Financial Lines Underwriting team in Turkiye by delivering high-quality client service and managing operational functions, enabling underwriters to focus on production and underwriting. The role ensures all processes are handled efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with Chubb’s standards.
This role reports directly to the Financial Lines Manager in Turkiye, however, through the matrix reporting structure may also have a dotted line to other parts of the underwriting community on a day-to-day basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Excellence & Service Delivery
- Act as gatekeeper for information entering the registration and policy production process, ensuring documentation is complete and business is processed to agreed service standards.
- Monitor and chase submissions, maintaining attention to detail and proactively anticipating customer needs.
- Ensure bookings are registered within required timeframes and quality/validation measures are completed, reported, and acted upon.
- Demonstrate adaptability by adjusting to changing circumstances, market conditions, and regulatory requirements.
- Relationship Management & Communication
- Build strong working relationships with the Financial Lines Underwriting team and maintain regular communication with local underwriting management and stakeholders.
- Support the underwriting community through liaison and participation in meetings with brokers and internal departments.
- Provide general assistance for broker/client visits and other administrative duties as required.
- Apply effective communication and relationship-building skills to foster collaboration and sustain long-term partnerships.
- Portfolio & Opportunity Management
- Assist in the underwriting and processing of new business, renewals, and endorsements, optimizing workflow and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Utilize prioritization techniques to manage multiple tasks efficiently and ensure deadlines are met.
- Identify and support business opportunities, aligning actions with Chubb’s goals.
- Technical & Analytical Skills
- Apply contract knowledge to interpret provisions and answer coverage questions.
- Use critical thinking to break down complex problems, extract insights, and support decision-making.
- Analyze data and loss patterns to provide actionable insights and support continuous improvement.
- Risk & Coverage Alignment
- Evaluate customer needs and risk profiles to support the design of suitable coverage solutions, ensuring alignment with Chubb strategies and guidelines.
- Assist in risk selection and assessment, applying mitigation techniques as directed.
- Sales Acumen & Cross-Selling
- Demonstrate consultative selling by understanding customer, broker, and agent needs, and identifying cross-selling opportunities where appropriate.
- Technology & Process Improvement
- Leverage digital tools and technology to enhance operational efficiency and support underwriting analysis.
- Support the development and implementation of business processing tools.
- Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Document underwriting rationale and risk selection in accordance with company and regulatory requirements, maintaining clear and accurate records.
- Ensure adherence to compliance, validation, and best practices in all operational activities.
Qualifications & Skills
- University degree is preferred.
- Strong written and spoken English (C1).
- Competent in Microsoft Office and digital tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Customer-centric attitude with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Demonstrated adaptability, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and optimize workflow in a high-volume environment.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning and team development.
