The Senior Specialist, Software Engineering will play a vital role in the development and integration of embedded software systems supporting mission-critical defense programs, focusing on high-performance mission systems and hardware-software integration.
Responsibilities:
- Developing high-quality embedded software in C and C++
- Gathering and analyzing system requirements
- Designing software architectures
- Implementing robust test plans to ensure system integrity and performance
- Supporting systems integration
- Performing validation and verification activities
- Contributing to the development of mission systems architecture
- Utilizing testing tools such as Python-based frameworks and coverage analysis tools to validate code quality
- Supporting customer deployments
- Participating in design reviews
- Collaborating with hardware teams to optimize system performance
- Occasional travel to customer sites, such as St. Louis, MO
- Involved in DevSecOps practices
- Test automation
- Maintaining configuration management processes to ensure seamless software updates and system stability
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- At least six years of relevant experience
- Candidates with a graduate degree require a minimum of four years of related experience
- Those without a degree must have a minimum of ten years of professional experience in embedded software development
- Excellent communication skills
- Problem-solving abilities
- Capacity to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Experience in software leadership roles such as CSWE, IPTL, or CAM
- Familiarity with embedded security, encryption, and safety-critical software development standards like DO-178 B or above
- Strong knowledge of hardware and software integration
- Real-time operating systems (VxWorks, LynxOS, Integrity)
- Network protocols such as Gigabit Ethernet and InfiniBand
