Kelly Engineering is seeking a Senior QA/QC Engineer focused on Mission Critical/Data Centers with one of their leading clients. The role involves serving as the on-site quality champion, ensuring compliance and quality execution across various engineering activities for a high-reliability facility.
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily site inspections and audits, walking the jobsite to verify compliance with design documents, codes, and specifications
- Develop, implement, and manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), submittal reviews, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and comprehensive quality documentation systems
- Oversee and witness critical testing protocols, including megger testing, relay testing, pressure/hydro testing, infrared thermography, TAB validation, and other reliability-focused verifications
- Coordinate and support Commissioning Agents through full Level 1–5 commissioning processes, ensuring integrated systems testing validates redundancy and performance requirements
- Perform root cause analysis on quality issues, drive corrective/preventive actions, and track effectiveness to prevent recurrence
- Interface effectively with project stakeholders (EPCs, subs, engineers, owner reps) through meetings, reports, and on-site coordination to maintain schedule momentum while upholding quality
- Maintain proficiency in documentation platforms (Procore, Autodesk BIM 360, Bluebeam, MS Project) and generate accurate quality metrics and reporting
- Enforce safety and compliance standards, including OSHA requirements, on a daily basis
Requirements:
- Proven Mission-Critical Experience: Direct hands-on work on data centers, fabs, or similar (e.g., Tier III/IV facilities with redundancy systems)
- Technical Depth in a Core Discipline: Strong expertise in one area (electrical, mechanical, civil/structural, or controls) with knowledge of relevant codes (e.g., NEC for electrical)
- Quality Management Track Record: Evidence of handling ITPs, NCRs, submittals, and root cause analysis on large-scale projects
- Field Presence and Communication: Ability to enforce standards on-site daily, plus interface effectively with diverse teams (EPCs, subs, owners)
- Certifications and Tools Proficiency: Minimum OSHA 30, with bonuses for ASQ CQE/CQM, PE, or PMP
- 10+ years in industrial/mission-critical construction environments (data centers – Tier III/IV preferred, high-tech manufacturing, semiconductor fabs, pharmaceutical GMP, or utility-scale power projects)
- Proven expertise managing QA/QC on large-scale projects ($50MM+ construction value)
- Strong technical background in one core discipline: Electrical, Mechanical (HVAC/Chilled Water), Civil/Structural, or Controls/Automation
- Hands-on experience with redundancy/reliability systems (N+1, 2N, 2N+1) and supporting CxA through commissioning Levels 1–5
- In-depth knowledge of applicable codes/standards: NEC/NFPA/IEEE (Electrical), ASME/ACI/AWS (Mechanical/Structural), ISO 9001 quality systems
- Demonstrated proficiency overseeing specialized testing and root cause/corrective action processes
- Comfortable in fast-track, high-pressure environments with daily field presence and strong enforcement skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- ASQ CQE or CQM, PMP (for managerial aspects), PE license, LEED AP
