Junior Security Engineer (REMOTE only PST/MST)

Hireteq Solutions Inc. is seeking a Junior Security Engineer to support the implementation and maintenance of a unified cybersecurity infrastructure. This role involves assisting in protecting the organization’s computer systems, networks, and data while providing opportunities for mentorship and growth.

Responsibilities:

• Support the implementation and maintenance of a unified cybersecurity infrastructure
• Assist in protecting the organization’s computer systems, networks, and data
• Help improve the overall security posture

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience in security engineering, cybersecurity, or related IT roles
• Strong foundational understanding of Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSL)
• Strong foundational understanding of Windows and/or Linux systems
• Strong foundational understanding of Authentication and access control concepts
• Strong foundational understanding of Cloud and modern IT environments (basic knowledge preferred)
• Familiarity with security tools such as EDR, IAM, vulnerability scanners, SIEM, or similar technologies
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and standards (NIST CSF, ISO27001, CIS Benchmarks)
• PKI & CA Security
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to learn quickly, follow guidance, and manage multiple tasks
• Proactive mindset with strong accountability and willingness to grow
• Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, or similar) is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field — or equivalent practical experience
• Candidates from PST / MST area
• California locals are highly preferred
