Summary
This graduate-level internship provides exposure to the administration and operations management of a large, complex global health program. The intern will support Baylor College of Medicine Global Health and Texas Children’s Global Health Network through activities related to global program management, operations, monitoring and evaluation, communications, fundraising, education, and training. Work will vary day‑to‑day and is designed to strengthen professional skills while increasing understanding of global health programs across diverse international contexts.
This is a temporary summer internship scheduled to begin in mid‑May and conclude in July; however, the timeline is not guaranteed. There is no expectation of continued employment. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation. Applications must include a cover letter and resume.
Job Purpose
Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.
Job Duties
Interns will have the opportunity to:
- Gain experience in global health operations management.
- Support collaboration and coordination across a complex global organizational structure.
- Contribute to global program management, operations, and implementation tasks.
- Assist with monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Develop and disseminate global health materials including presentations, social media content, websites, and outreach materials.
- Support the development and updating of global health training materials and curriculum.
- Participate in philanthropic efforts, including proposal research and development for prospective partners and donors.
- Support global health project management to ensure activities remain on track and aligned with program priorities.
- Engage with diverse, multidisciplinary global health implementers and experts.
- Complete other tasks as assigned based on organizational needs and/or the intern’s interests.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred areas of study include: Health, Global Health, International Development, Communications, Public Policy, Non‑Profit Management, Business Administration, Education or other relevant fields of study.
- Must be based in the United States.
- Interest in global health programs and operations.
- Interest in health challenges in low‑resource settings.
- Interest in multidisciplinary and multicultural global health environments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and coordination skills.
- Ability to create or support social media, presentations, website content, and training materials.
