Position Overview: Individual is responsible for welding and brazing in accordance with industry standards, aerospace prime specifications, MIL general procedures and various customer requirements.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
· Packaging/Inspection - unpack components to be welded/brazed and perform general incoming inspections for overall condition of parts (scratches, nicks, dings, etc.). Inspect weldments/brazements for compliance to specified dimensional and quality criteria. Package parts after processing per MIL and customer requirements.
· Production/Equipment Use – Prepare components for welding/brazing and make welds/brazements using applicable equipment and related accessories. Compliance with applicable chemical, environmental, and safety procedures during these activities is mandatory. Assist in maintaining control of quality consumables.
· Documentation- Completion of applicable data records including job log entry, job traveler, contract review, inspection reports, work instructions, test data, job techniques, customer specific requirements and other documents required to sustain traceability of work performed.
· General Maintenance - Contribute to housekeeping and general equipment maintenance in welding department and workstation. Develop a thorough comprehension and operational proficiency with MIL’s welding, brazing, soldering, pressure testing and helium leak testing techniques and procedures.
· Take part in on-going training sessions related to welding and brazing processes, procedures, specifications and qualifications as well as training in various areas of quality control.
· Participate in periodic testing and performance evaluations.
· Participate in MIL Quality, Process, Safety, and related continuous process improvement programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Individual will possess a basic understanding of industry standard AWS D17.1 in addition to MIL General Procedures, customer requirements and other applicable military, aerospace and industry standard welding and brazing specifications. Individual will have knowledge of various internal and external audit guidelines and quality requirements.
· Individual must have the necessary skills to set up welding machines and brazing equipment in accordance with procedures and specific parameters, to use fixtures as needed, and to make quality welds/brazements. Individual must qualify in all welding processes they will be expected to use.
· Ability to evaluate and interpret part drawings and specifications, work effectively with all levels of personnel within the organization. Must be a quality focused, detail-oriented, organized, and self-starting individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements:
· Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
· Proven experience as a Welder, with 5 years of experience in MIG and TIG.
· Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints and welding symbols.
· Knowledge of different metals and alloys, their properties, and welding requirements.
· Certification in welding techniques (e.g., AWS certification) is a plus.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
· Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
· Demonstrated commitment to safety in the workplace.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Able to lift up to 45 lbs. consistently.
· Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and have the strength to handle parts ranging in size and weight.
· Individual must be authorized to work for any U.S. based employer.
Reports: The Welder reports directly to the Welder Team Leader.
Hours: Welders are required to maintain a flexible schedule to support the department in times of increased demand.
