What You'll Do:
The Office of Budget and Management (OBM) is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking leader to serve as the Chief of Data and Evaluation. This role oversees OBM’s data analytics operations and drives results-focused budgeting and evidence-based policy. The ideal candidate is a collaborative thought partner who can translate complex data into actionable insights and elevate transparency, accountability, and impact across Ohio’s budget processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee OBM’s data analytics operations, including data strategy, data management, governance, and business intelligence functions.
Supervise data analytics staff, set priorities, manage workflow, and support long term planning efforts such as Results Focused Budgeting.
Lead OBM’s public and internal data reporting and guide adoption of tools including the InnovateOhio Platform and DataOhio Portal.
Develop and enforce data governance policies; collaborate with the CIO on data security, privacy, and compliance; and advise internal stakeholders as needed.
Build and implement the statewide framework for results focused budgeting by defining evidence standards, managing evidence data collection, and integrating evidence indicators into statewide budget documents.
Partner with OBM leadership and agencies to strengthen data literacy, evaluate outcomes, support return on investment analysis, and advance a coordinated statewide evaluation agenda.
