Prairie Farms in Orrville, Ohio, is seeking a Summer Quality/Lab Intern. The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or university.
Job Duties
- Will assist to complete microbiological testing of products and ingredients as needed.
- Will be required to help maintain the cleanliness and organization of laboratory testing areas and equipment.
- Will assist in developing and Implementing Quality Document Control System
- Will assist in developing Equipment Calibration standards and log
- Will assist the QA Manager in updating existing quality files and completing product cuttings and reviews.
- Will Lead/Assist efforts on Cooling Studies for Cultured products
- Will be evaluating current testing protocols and updating associated written procedures.
- Will assist in developing and delivering training to align procedural expectations to teams associated with task.
- Will assist QA Manager in conducting sensory training and product quality testing.
- May assist Product Development as needed.
- Will follow all Company Safety and cGMP standards and exercise due care in discharging duties.
- Other duties will be required as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Must have a full range of motion and be able to bend, squat, climb and lift.
- Must be able to lift 25-30 pounds
- Must be able to stand or walk for 90% of the workday.
- Must be able to tolerate allergen exposure to milk, cocoa, and egg proteins.
Skill Requirements
- Must speak, read and write English to have effective oral and written communication skills to maintain working relationship with other lab and plant team members.
- Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent skills by experience.
- Must demonstrate basic math skills to calculate blended products, understand weights and measures.
- Must have a mechanical aptitude to perform the following tasks:
- Use an electric scale
- Make adjustments on machine settings
- Use small tools
- Operate a microscope.
- Must demonstrate hand-eye coordination and dexterity to handle precision instruments in a laboratory setting
- Must demonstrate ability to interpret data and effectively communicate information.
