Description
This role consists of helping the classroom teacher with a student who has a need for a para in a one-on-one role. This includes and is not limited to; instructional support within and outside of the classroom, behavior management, student safety and health, student supervision outside of class, and data collection.
Other Duties may include:
- Collect educational data to be reported to the classroom teacher and Special Education Coordinator
- Track IEP goals and outcomes for IEP meetings
- Keep track of the student and their schedule
- Ensure the student’s hygiene and health are taken care of in a timely manner
- Work with the teacher and Special Education Coordinator to help the student reach their goals
- Reteach lessons or focus on practicing skills
- Support the student in becoming independent
- Positively manage the student’s behavior
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma;
- Experience supervising children
- Successful collaboration and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, colleagues and administration
